The committee focuses on the development of standards and guidelines in the field of “Sustainability in Financial Services and Products.”

Official Submission for the Development
Development of a DIN Standard for sustainable non-life insurance products
On 3 July 2025, the official application for the development of a DIN standard for sustainable non-life insurance products in the field of Sustainable Finance was submitted. The standard is intended to define minimum requirements for the principles-based assessment of sustainability in non-life insurance products.

Presentation and call to participate of the ASSESI network

At the 20th iff Conference on Financial Services in Hamburg, the stakeholder network for a sustainable insurance industry — the ‘Association of European Sustainable Insurers’ (acronym: ASSESI) — was presented. The need for a standard for sustainable non-life insurance products was explained, based on the new consumer protection directive EmpCo (Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition – Directive (EU) 2024/825).

On September 25, 2024, Marcus Reichenberg submitted a standardization proposal to DIN (German Institute for Standardization). The proposal relates to the field of Sustainable Finance and highlights the need for developing an independent standard for non-life insurance products in the context of sustainability.”
